To everything (turn, turn, turn) there is a season…
Fall is underway, and there’s so much going on, I’ve got to make sure it’s all on the calendar. I just bought our tickets to the Tech/Baylor game on Nov. 28 in the new Cowboys stadium. Exciting! We’ve nervously leered at it from the now-teeny-looking Ballpark a few times this summer. I can’t imagine actually stepping foot inside the monstrous spaceship-like facility!
A tweet from a friend reminded me about one of my other favorite fall events: the East Texas State Fair! Oh, I know it isn’t anything spectacular, but I love to go. I like to walk around check out the crafts and eat the fried goodness and enjoy the cooler weather. Got to carve out one evening to go.
Also at the end of the September is the national Peacemaker Conference in Dallas. I’m new to the organization so I don’t know what to expect but I’m looking forward to it. We’ll also get to spend some time with my BFF JENN and her hubby, Kevin!
In the midst of all of these things, I can’t forget my two most important engagements: my anniversary and Mistletoe & Magic–which happen to fall the same week this year. :\ But I’m not discouraged because we’ll be celebrating our anniversary early with a road trip in October to see JereCo in Tennessee. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful countryside that time of year.
The dip in temperature has me giddy thinking about all of the fun things coming up. Autumn is my absolute-without-a-doubt favorite season and time of year. Goodbye, Sunshine. Bring on the clouds and leaves! (Which reminds me, I also get to start watching my favorite channel again–The Weather Channel. No need to watch it between April and September, but the rest of the year, it’s the first thing I turn on in the morning!)
Well it’s turned out to be a beautiful day!
Of course, I love rainy days anyway. I wouldn’t care if it rained all day and all night and all day tomorrow. But it’s nice to see a little sun as well.
We were supposed to go to a wedding in L’view but decided against it because of the weather. So we had breakfast at The Eatery (I love their coupons on kltv.com), got some coffee at B&N and have spent the rest of the day intermittently reading, watching TV and playing on the computer.
Eshe is behind my chair napping. She is the typical, textbook Lab–sweet, bouncy, likes to get in her own little space and hide. So different from Mally, our Lab/Terrier/Who-Knows-What mix. She’s inquisitive, alert, skeptical, and jealous. She wants to be the center of attention but doesn’t want you to touch her (too much).
Yes, I’m a little ga-ga over my pets.
Anyway, tonight I’m going to finish book club book, The Sharper Your Knife, The Less You Cry, and then I’m going to get started on The Apocalypse Code by Hank Hanagraaf. I’ve started it but haven’t gotten far, and I have to get into it before Shane steals it from me and reads it first (which he’s threatened to do several times).
